Element #34 on the Periodic Table, Selenium (Se) is an amorphous, crystalline, typically reddish-brown metal. Selenium is an extremely important trace mineral, but in large concentrations can be extremely toxic to cells and tissues. In angstrom-sized suspension, Selenium helps the cell produce Vitamin E, and works in harmony with Vitamin E as a most effective free radical scavenger making it a very important anti-oxidant element. Scientists in Brussels found that taking 100 mcgs. of selenium daily improved overall immune system functions by a whopping 80%. They found that the body uses selenium to produce a substance called glutifying peroxidaze - an enzyme used by the body to detoxify fats, thereby increasing immunity. Selenium deficiency may be linked to the following conditions: anemia, age spots, liver spots, fatigue, muscular weakness, muscular dystrophy, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, irregular heartbeat, cirrhosis of the liver, Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS), Parkinson's Disease, infertility, low birth weight, high infant mortality, and SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). In order for a mineral to be assimilated correctly on the cellular level, it must be in a form no larger than an angstrom in size. These angstrom-sized particles should also be completely water soluble, which allows the mineral to be quickly 100% absorbed in either the mouth (sublingually) or in the upper stomach where lower stomach acids will not destroy them. It takes 10,000 angstrom-sized particles lined up on a horizontal plane to cross the distance equal to one micron. Please note that these are not colloidal minerals. Colloidal may help to a certain degree, but may accumulate in the various tissues of the body causing toxicity. Angstrom sized particles of minerals are the size in which plants, fruits and vegetables deliver minerals to humans.
Safety Guidelines
Most minerals should be taken early in the day except for Gold, Calcium, Copper, and at times, Chromium. Gold will promote a restful sleep. Platinum, Potassium, Selenium, and Mineral of Life should be taken in the morning as they have a tendency to stimulate the system. Copper, Selenium, and Iron are very powerful minerals, so please only take ½ dropperful unless otherwise directed. Selenium and Iron are both minerals that will affect your sleep pattern if not taken EARLY IN THE DAY. Copper and Selenium may cause irritability.
