Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), a long chain omega-3 fatty acid, is a critical nutrient. DHA is one of the main components of brain tissue. It is required for the proper functioning of all neural systems, including vision. Recent research has shown that other omega-3 fatty acids, such as LNA (or ALA) (alpha linolenic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), do not have the same health effects of DHA. In addition, the human body can only convert a small percentage of LNA or EPA to DHA. Therefore, DHA is the essential omega-3 fatty acid in the modern Western diet for which supplementation is indicated. Dr. Dean Ornish recommends taking 3 to 4 grams of fish oil per day, which is equivalent to 360 to 480 mg of DHA per day. He also notes that "fish contain saturated fat and cholesterol, so fish and fish oils tend to cause LDL ("bad" cholesterol) levels to increase." Therefore, by taking one or two capsules of O-Mega-Zen3 you can get the amount of DHA recommend by Dr. Ornish, without the risk of increasing your cholesterol.

Suggested Use:
